The Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has announced that the 10th Lagos Public Relations Stakeholders’ Conference will address “employment creation and nation building” at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos on Thursday, 31st August.
According to NIPR’s premier chapter, the special gathering is expected to have in attendance distinguished guest speakers; and capture highlights of previous editions of the highly celebrated conference.
Lagos NIPR Chairperson, Mrs. Comfort Obot Nwankwo explained that “the theme for this landmark edition, ‘Stakeholders’ Conversation on Employment Creation and Nation Building’ will discuss possible solutions to the increasing rate of unemployment and related issues in the country”.
She noted that this year’s edition would set agenda for government and key stakeholders.
“The increasing rate of unemployment and underemployment in the country has necessitated the need to discuss the way forward in the country. As Public Relations practitioners, there is the need to set agenda on the way forward on issues of national interest”, Nwankwo said.
Conference Coordinator, Mr. Olabamiji Adeleye said that, “the need for government and institutions to ensure that we reduce the proportion of unemployment, tackling child labour, accelerating decent work and economic growth by 2030 based on the United Nations’ SDGs cannot be over emphasised”.
According to Adeleye, who is also CEO Addefort Limited, “participants at the conference will include Public Relations practitioners, economic experts, and representatives of the Nigeria Labour Congress, National Directorate of Employment, the United Nations, embassies, governments, corporate organisations, institutions, NGOs, Heads of Departments of relevant agencies, and media, among other stakeholders”.
The annual conference has evolved over the years to become a headline platform, a bridge-building talker-shop for stakeholders to interact, discuss and proffer solutions to the social, political and economic challenges plaguing our nation.
The conference is the brainchild of Addefort Limited; a public relations and concept development firm.
