The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), on Friday provided relief materials to victims of bandits’ attack in Gurara and Lavun Local Government Areas.
The attacks affected Kabo, Iwa, Kutayi, Zabedna and Baradna communities on 29th and 30th March.
The Director-General of NSEMA, Alhaji Ahmed Inga, while presenting the items on behalf of the state government, said the items were to help cushion the effects of the attacks on the victims and bring succour to them.
The items include: rice, groundnut oil, palm oil, Maggi seasoning, salt, washing soap, bathing soap, wrappers for women and Guinea brocades for men as well as buckets.
Receiving the relief items, the Chairman of Gurara Local Government Area, Mr Yusuf Gawu thanked the state government for the intervention, which he said would go a long way to alleviate the victims’ suffering.
Relief items such as food and non-food items were also handed over to the victims, community representatives and leaders in Lavun Local Government Area.
NAN reports that some of the affected persons who had earlier fled the communities in the wake of the attacks had started returning even as normalcy had been restored to the communities.
