As encomiums continue to pour in for Ekiti State Governor, Dr John Kayode Fayemi, following his presidential declaration of Wednesday, Air Vice Marshal Joel (rtd) has thrown his weight behind the governor, who is also the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, describing him as “the man for the job”.

After several weeks of speculations, Fayemi finally threw his hat into the ring to challenge others for the 2023 presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Anyone who follows Dr Kayode Fayemi’s leadership trajectory can attest to the fact that he will be a President Nigerians would be proud of. His popularity is not in doubt, as has been roundly demonstrated by the large crowd that trooped out today to witness this august event of Dr John Kayode Fayemi’s declaration. I believe he is the man for the job,” AVM Joel began.

He added; “The position he occupies as the Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum has also brought to the fore his leadership qualities. He has seamlessly steer the ship of the forum for these past four years and has been able to build harmony and relentlessly pushed his colleagues towards ensuring good governance, national unity and peace. Given his antecedents as someone with the capacity, tenacity, inclusiveness and discipline, Dr Fayemi should simply earn the supports from his party, especially President Muhammadu Buhari, who believes in good governance.

“That Fayemi has the capacity, is not in doubt, as you know, you cannot give what you don’t have. When he speaks, he doesn’t speak from the angle of frivolity, but from that of deep thoughts and his love for Nigeria. He has been in the trenches, and he would therefore never see democracy derailed, no matter what is at stake.

“He would enthrone popular political participation so that everyone, irrespective of class would have a say”.

In the forefront of marketing Fayemi’s candidacy across is the Nigeria Patriotic Coalition (NPC), which is led by the Convener, Hon. Yemi Akinbode.

The Director of Research and Documentation for the political movement, reiterated members’ commitment towards galvanising supports for Fayemi.

NPC executed launches in all the six geopolitical zones, mobilising support prior to Fayemi’s official declaration.

Nwosu said: “Our mandate is to ensure that all the people across the six geopolitical zones are mobilised to key into this vision; the vision of Nigeria with greater possibilities, which we believe can be achieved with Dr Fayemi”.

He believed that Fayemi has the support of majority of Nigerians, who are not in doubt that he has the vision, competence and creativity to take the country to greater heights.

NPC’s Director of Finance, Hon. Dr Moji Yaya-Kolade commended the Governor for taking this bold step and for responding to the yearnings of the people.

While also expressing confidence that, if given the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Fayemi would meet the expectations of Nigerians in delivering the dividends of democracy, Yaya-Kolade noted that he has the experience, competence and global network to the dream of Nigerians happen.

“I am delighted that His Excellency, Dr Fayemi has finally taken this step and I’m confident, that he would do well if elected Nigerians President”, she said.

As the Governor of Ekiti State, Yaya-Kolade said that Fayemi had done creditably well. “The Governor introduced a lot of social intervention programmes not only in Ekiti State but the entire country”.

She added that Fayemi provided free healthcare and free education in Ekiti State, and other projects to bring the state at par as a fast developing state comparable with any modern state elsewhere.

On insecurity, the former Commissioner said Fayemi is a visionary who is also God fearing and has the interest of the people at heart. “And he would do anything to make Nigeria safe for all”.
