Preparatory to 2024 hajj operations across the country, the National Chairman of Nigeria Hajj Commission (NAHCON), Alhaji Ahmed Arabi alongside the governor of Kebbi state, Dr Nasir Idris inspected the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi.
His visit to Kebbi State ahead of this year’s hajj operations entails an on-the-spot assessment of the airport which the state has chosen to airlift this year’s Kebbi intending pilgrims to the holy land of Mecca.
Arabi who expressed satisfaction with what he saw at the airport stated that the airport is fit for hajj operations as all the facilities are up to date and other logistics required for a smooth airlift of pilgrims.
“I am really impressed by what I saw in the airport, therefore, I commend the governor for his strong commitment to hitch free airlift of intending pilgrims”, he said.
Earlier, in his speech, the governor informed Arabi that aside from the standard of the airport, he has provided aviation fuel to enable airliners to refuel for ease of operations in the airport.
Idris added that for transparency, Kebbi state government directly sent hajj fares paid by intending pilgrims without delay as the monies belongs to the poor who are farmers, traders and artisans.
