The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has called on its members to maintain political neutrality as the 2027 general elections draw near.
During a meeting at the organisation’s headquarters in Kaduna, with all state chapter chairmen and secretaries in attendance, ACF Chairman, Alhaji Bashir Muhammad Dalhatu emphasised the importance of unity and speaking with one voice on matters affecting the region.
The meeting discussed the upcoming group’s silver jubilee and the need for a firm protocol guiding officials’ communication with outsiders, particularly the media.
Scheduled for 20 to 22 November 2025, the silver jubilee aims to raise funds for the construction of a national headquarters and launch an endowment fund to support social and economic development initiatives in northern Nigeria. It will also feature the launching and presentation of books.
The ACF strongly condemned the alleged sabotage of the Dangote Refinery, describing the company as a national asset that has rescued Nigeria from fuel shortages and foreign exchange scarcity.
The forum urged the Federal Government to take urgent action to protect the refinery and eliminate any existential threats to the nation.
The ACF expressed concern over the growing insecurity in northern Nigeria and the proliferation of non-governmental organisations with similar aims and objectives. The forum urged its state chapters to be more proactive in membership drives and establishing local government chapters.
The ACF appealed to Northerners who have created parallel or splinter groups to rethink their actions and join the ACF, emphasising that there is enough room for all .
The forum also expressed gratitude to members of the armed forces and security agencies for their sacrifices in battling insurgency and banditry.
