Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has expressed confidence that the party will record a sweeping victory in the 2027 general elections.
Makinde spoke on Monday at the Boye Nation/JAF Movement Mega Concert held at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, where he formally received hundreds of supporters of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, who defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the APM.
The defectors were led by Ajiboye Sangogade, popularly known as Boye Nation, a personal assistant and loyalist of Adelabu, and were drawn from several local government areas across Oyo State.
The event, themed “Young, United, Unstoppable (YUU)”, served as both a political gathering and a formal reception for Sangogade and his supporters into the APM.
Speaking at the event, Makinde said he was confident that Nigerians were ready to support him and other APM candidates in the forthcoming elections.
“God has signed off on what we are doing, and that is why it is raining. Today, we are welcoming thousands of APC members into the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), and this shows that our victory is only a matter of time. We will win massively in all elections in 2027,” he said.
The governor also criticised opposition figures who have focused on his administration, urging them to campaign on what they would do differently if elected.
Makinde said the APM’s governorship candidate in Oyo State, Bimbo Adekanmbi, is an accounting graduate and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
He urged APM supporters to continue mobilising voters for the party and its candidates ahead of the elections.
The mega concert also featured performances by Fuji artistes, including Alhaji Taye Currency, Alhaji Tiri Leather, Babatunmise and other entertainers.
The event was attended by APM leaders, government officials, members of the National Assembly and the Oyo State House of Assembly, commissioners and other party stakeholders.
The development comes as political parties and their candidates intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
