Olujuwon Obasanjo, son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has joined the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement as Special Adviser on Political Affairs, declaring his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general election.

Olujuwon announced his decision during a visit to the movement’s headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, where he was received by its National Coordinator, Sunday Asuku.

He was subsequently taken on a guided tour of the facility to familiarise himself with the organisation’s structure, operations and grassroots mobilisation activities.

Describing his appointment as an honour and privilege, Olujuwon commended the movement for its grassroots mobilisation, community outreach and efforts to publicise the achievements of the Tinubu administration.

He said he had been following the activities of the organisation and was impressed by its efforts, expressing his readiness to contribute to its objectives and the President’s ambition to secure a second term in office.

According to him, President Tinubu has started on a positive note, making it important for Nigerians, particularly young people, to support the administration’s ongoing reforms and ensure continuity in governance.

“President Tinubu has started on a good note, making it necessary for Nigerians, particularly young people, to join hands to sustain the ongoing reforms and ensure continuity in governance,” he said.

He further cited developments in salary payments, infrastructure development and investment opportunities as areas where the country had recorded progress, stressing the need to sustain the gains.

“Again, you will notice that the country has made progress in areas including salary payments, infrastructure development and investment opportunities. And I think the gains recorded should be sustained,” he added.

Olujuwon expressed confidence that continued support for Tinubu would enable the administration to consolidate its achievements and deliver more dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

He also disclosed that he had been a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) since 2014, adding that members of his family were allowed to maintain independent political views and pursue different political interests without hostility.

“My family allows members to hold independent political views and pursue our political interests without animosity,” he said.

Welcoming him to the movement, Asuku described Olujuwon as an experienced political figure whose understanding of governance and political mobilisation would strengthen the organisation’s activities across the country.

He expressed confidence that Olujuwon would bring his political experience and leadership capacity to bear on the movement’s grassroots engagement and mobilisation efforts.

The national coordinator also described his decision to join the organisation as a welcome development, assuring that his contributions would help advance its objectives.

Olujuwon’s appointment comes as political groups and support organisations intensify mobilisation and strategic positioning ahead of the 2027 general election, with supporters of President Tinubu stepping up efforts to build grassroots support for his re-election bid.
