Twenty-one members of the Kano State Assembly have defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers announced their defection on Monday.
This is coming after about 774 members of the NNPP defected to the APC in Rimin Gado Local Government Area of the state.
The defections are trailing Governing Abba Yusuf’s resignation from the NNPP.
The governor cited protracted internal crises and legal disputes that he said have weakened the party’s cohesion nationwide.
The lawmakers that defected on Monday included the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore representing Rogo constituency; the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Muhammad Bello Butu Butu (Tofa/Rimin Gado); Majority Leader, Hon. Lawan Hussain (Dala); Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Garba Shehu Fammar (Kibiya); Chief Whip Muddasir Ibrahim Zawachiki (Kumbotso): and the Majority Whip, Hon. Zakariyya Abdullahi Nuhu (Gabasawa).
Others included Hon. Lawal Tini (Ajingi), Hon. Musa Tahir Haruna (Albasu), Hon. Ali Lawan Alhassan (Bagwai/Shanono), Hon. Ali Muhammad Tiga (Bebeji), Hon. Hafiz Gambo (Bunkure), Hon. Rabiu Shuaibu (Dawakin Kudu), Hon. Tukur Mohammed (Fagge) and Hon. Murtala Muhammad Kadage (Garko).
Also in the list were Hon. Abdulmajid Isah Umar (Gwale), Hon. Ahmad Ibrahim (Karaye), Hon. Alhassan Zakari (Kura/Garun Malam), Hon. Suleiman Mukhtar Ishaq (Madobi), Hon. Abdulhamid Abdul (Minjibir), Hon. Muhammad Ibrahim (Rano), Hon. Kabiru Sule Dahiru (Tarauni) and Hon. Ali Abdullahi Manager (Wudil).
