7 shops burnt to ashes in Ibadan

About seven shops worth millions of naira have reportedly been razed in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

It was gathered that the incident happened at the Alaro community in Sango, in Ibadan, on Saturday.

Investigations by The PUNCH revealed that the cause of the incident has not been ascertained.

When contacted, the General Manager of the State Fire Service, Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident.

“Our men immediately moved to the scene when they were contacted. No life was lost in the inferno.

“On arrival, we met seven shops well alight and we quickly swung into action and restricted the fire from spreading to other shops and nearby buildings.

“The fire was extinguished, no casualty was recorded but property worth millions of naira was affected by fire.

“The root cause of the fire incident was yet to be ascertained as investigation continues”, he stated
