The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has said that Air Peace compensated 220 passengers for various flight disruptions encountered in November 2024.

The announcement, which was made via the NCAA’s official X account on Monday, was accompanied by documents detailing the compensation process.

The document outlines details such as the ‘date offered, flight number and route, flight date, passenger load, discount offered, percentage provided, and the reason’.

Some of these details included in the 220 passengers compensation includes, ‘1st Nov 2024 | 7100 LOS-QRW | 1st Nov 2024 | 12 | 65% | Operational Reason.

‘2nd Nov 2024 | 7102 ABV-ENU | 2nd Nov 2024 | 11 | 65% | Business Class Downgrade.

‘6th Nov 2024 | 7170 LOS-BNI | 6th Nov 2024 | 27 | 25% | Short Landed Bag’.

The documents, signed by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA, Michael Achimugu, outlined key information such as compensation dates, flight numbers, routes, flight schedules, passenger loads, discounts provided, and the reasons behind the compensations.

An analysis of the records showed that the affected flights took place between 1 and 30 November 2024, with compensation rates ranging from 25 per cent to 65 per cent depending on the type of disruption.

The compensations were attributed to various reasons, including operational challenges, downgrades from business class, and technical issues with the airline’s aircraft.

Additional disruptions included flight delays caused by the late arrival of operating aircraft, baggage mishandling, and the temporary closure of Warri Airport.

Aero Contractors provided various compensations, including economy class tickets and business class return tickets.

On 16 November 2024, the agency reported that the airline recorded its highest passenger load (129 passengers) on flight 7170 from Lagos to Benin City, offering a 25 per cent discount as compensation for disruptions caused by operational issues.

Likewise, on 4 November 2024, 117 passengers on flight 7425, scheduled to operate from Kano to Abuja, were compensated.
