Petroleum tanker falls in Ibadan

Another petroleum tanker has fallen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

It was reported that the accident occurred around 11am on Sunday.

It occurred at Tose area in Moniya in Akinyele local government area.

It was learnt that the men of Oyo State Fire Service were informed immediately the accident occurred.

General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Mr Yemi Akinyinka confirmed the development.

He said the accident was reported to the agency’s control room at exactly 11:11hrs of Sunday.

He added that the agency immediately deployed its men to the scene of the incident to avert any likely fire hazard that might trigger as a result of petroleum spillage.

He said that policemen are also on ground to curb the illegality of the public scooping of fuel.

He said ‘On arrival all necessary action was done by blanketing the spillage with chemical compound to neutralize the flammability of the content.

‘The Nigerian police are also on ground to curb the illegality of the public scooping the petrol.

‘The agency’s personnel are still on standby’.
