The Nineteen Seventeen Northern Consensus Movement for Peace Unity Empowerment and Development Initiative (NSNCM) has announced its programmes for 2025, which include the conclusion of its peace summit.

At its annual press conference over the weekend, NSNCM’s National President, Awwal Abdullahi Aliyu said that it would be addressing two burning issues in the year, including the reputation of President Bola Tinubu, which was viewed by the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, and the situation with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Technology, Zaria.

NSNCM is an amalgamation of 594 registered community-based, socio-cultural, and economic associations from the 19 northern states and associations of northerners residing in the 17 southern states.

The organisation also expressed its gratitude to the media for their support and coverage of its activities. ‘2025 will be a continuation of 2024, with more positive and progressive activities’, said Aliyu.

According to NSNCM, some of its notable achievements in 2024 included the creation of the North West Development Commission, which the organisation had advocated for through a media conference and a follow-up letter to the National Assembly and the Presidency.

Aliyu also said that the organisation informed the public about various issues, including the killings of Northerners in Lokpanta, the update on compensations for victims of attacks by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, Eastern Security Network, Sasha Akinyele Market, and EndSARS killings, and the killings and destruction of properties of Northerners residing in the Southern part of the country.

In addition, the organization engaged with various stakeholders, including the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda; Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; and the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria.

NSNCM said it also participated in various peace and security summits, town hall meetings, and conferences at national, state, and local government levels.
