The Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Ali Dalori has distributed cash and food items, other materials and cash worth over N200 million to his constituents in the North as empowerment for the 30-day Ranadan fasting period.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Hon. Yemi Akinbode, the political leader reminded a congregation of representatives of various groups of Muslim faithful, women, youths, Bulamas and Clerics on Monday in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, that Ramadan is the period in which Islamic faithful go back to Allah in supplication, seeking the divine benevolence through fasting and prayers.
He said: ‘It is a time of sober reflection on our lives and our deeds as humans and subjects of the Great and Supreme Allah. In the practice of the teachings of Allah, we should cater, care and provide succour to the less-privileged in the society. Those of us who have been blessed by Allah must realise that giving is a tenet of Islam. When you remember the less privileged by providing food and essential materials to cater for their needs, Allah will continue to look after you and your own needs’.
He added that his giving to the people, especially the commin people, is motivated by the preaching and principles of Islam. He reiterated the need for those in positions of influence and power not to forget that Allah put them in positions of influence not to focus on their needs and that of their families alone, but to help raise the quality of lives of the down-trodden and the poor households.
‘For this reason and in the spirit of Ramadan 2025, i wish to announce to my constituents in the 19 Northern states of Nigeria, a total food and cash donations of N200 million in support of various groups, associations and households across the regions as my modest support for this year’s Ramadan’.
The announcement was greeted with a deafening shout of Allah’kubaru (God is the greatest) by the multitude, who had gathered at the venue for prayers, typical of the APC leader. It was a celebration, with gears and dancing by the cheering crowd, who took time to reel in joy and celebration.
The event, which took place at the Dapcharima Old GRA, Maidugguri’s residence of the APC leader, was also witnessed by prominent Islamic clerics, political and opinion leaders from across northern Nigeria, some of who paid glowing tributes to Dalori who many have described as the symbol of grassroots and open-door politics in Borno State.
