The Senate will, on 7 October, 2025, decide if the suspended lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, will resume her official duties or not.

In response to a question about what would happen now that Akpoti-Uduaghan has access to her office, the Consultant on Communication and Strategy in the Office of the Senate President, Kenny Okolugbo said: ‘Every other decision will be taken by the Senators when they resume on the 7  October’.

He lauded the Senate leadership for unsealing the office of the Kogi Central senator, stressing that it is her ‘right to go to her office’, since the six-month suspension has elapsed.

‘She has gained access into her office, she has every right to go to her office since her six months suspension has elapsed.

‘Even though the case is still at the court of Appeal, the leadership of the Senate took a wise decision’, he further said.

Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended by the Senate last 6 March over alleged violation of its rules.

This followed her dispute with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who she accused of sexual harassment, a claim the latter has denied.

The Senate is currently on recess and is expected to resume plenary on 7 October 2025.
