It was a day of love, prayers and merriment as friends, family and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the 40th day birth anniversary of Rakeem, son of Tanzanian singer, Juma Jux, and his Nigerian wife, Priscilla Mkambala.
The intimate ceremony, which brought together relatives and friends from Nigeria and Tanzania, featured a prayer session led by a Muslim cleric before transitioning into a lively party filled with music and dance.
One of the major highlights of the event was the presence of popular actress, Toyin Abraham, who stormed Tanzania with multiple gift packages for the baby, his mother, and grandmother. The actress, who danced gleefully for most of the ceremony, also amused guests when she attempted to join the Tanzanian women during their energetic cultural waist dance, only to deliver a hilarious display.
Not done, Toyin further entertained the family by taking to the drum, adding to the cheerful atmosphere of the party.
Also in attendance was Priscilla’s best friend and social media influencer, Enioluwa, who arrived in style with his new lover, Phina. The couple gifted little Rakeem an orange toy bike.
Fans of the couple were not left out of the celebration. They sent a silver jewellery piece accompanied by a heartfelt note that read, ‘Dear Priscilla, we congratulate you on the birth of your son, Rakeem Ayomide Mkambala. We JP online aunties and mummies are so happy and delighted, and as such, we celebrate with you…’
The joyful gathering also doubled as a family moment, as Priscilla, Juma, and their loved ones posed for several memorable photographs.
This celebration comes months after the couple’s grand wedding festivities. They had their first wedding in February 2025 after which they held their traditional and white wedding in Lagos. The wedding train later moved to Tanzania, where the colourful reception on 28 May drew family and friends from across East Africa.
It will be recalled that, shortly after her wedding, Priscilla addressed fans who speculated that she had been pregnant before marriage. In a social media post, she wrote, ‘Womb watchers and calculators, another confusion for you. This was the first time we actually got married after our private introduction last year. We were already married before the Nikkah we posted; that was to celebrate with friends and family’.
