The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) will commence the enrolment for Ilera Eko on Monday 6 February.
Ilera Eko (Yoruba for the health of Lagos people) is the state’s Health Insurance Scheme, which was launched by the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration to encourage residents, especially those at the grassroots, to have access to quality healthcare through the Universal Health Coverage that is affordable and convenient.
In statement over the weekend, the General Manager of LASHMA, Dr Emmanuella Zamba said that the registration and enrolment of the vulnerable throughout the 57 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in the state are to ensure that the group equally has access to quality healthcare.
Zamba said that the agency would flag off its Year 2023 EKO Social Health Alliance (EKOSHA) enrolment of the vulnerable and indigent at Ijede LCDA on Monday, 6 February.

LASHMA General Manager said that “both the vulnerable and those who can pay their health insurance premiums” will be registered.
She, therefore, urged everyone who is yet to come on board the scheme to seize the opportunity given by Governor Sanwo-Olu to register and enrol in order to avoid out-of-pocket payment of medical bills and also have peace of mind.
She said that Ilera Eko premium for Standard Plan (Individual) is N8,500 per annum, while the family plan, which covers of six members (father, mother and four children below 23 years), is N40,000 per annum.
Zamba added that those who cannot afford to pay the premium once also have the opportunity to do so by instalment and access care with N1,000 monthly for the individual plan after the payment of N3,000 at the first instance.
“Enrollees for the family plan can access care with N3,500 monthly after the payment of N10,500 at the first instance”, she said.
Zamba also said that senior citizens can also enrol with N34,000 per annum on Ilera Eko while the couple plan is N65,000 per annum.
She said that free medical screening and eyeglasses would be given to residents and LASHMA would also organise raffle draws at each event where various gifts would be won.
