Special Counsel of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Mr. Aloy Ejimakor, and activist politician, Mr. Omoyele Sowore have been released from Kuje correctional centre in the Federal Capital Territory after perfecting their bail conditions.
Kanu’s brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu was also released from the facility on Monday, alongside others arrested for participating in the #FreeeNnamdiKanuNow protest in Abuja last week.
Sowore, who led the protests, was subsequently arrested by the Nigeria Police Force when he visited the Federal High Court in Abuja for Kanu’s trial last week.
They were arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court in Kuje Area Council, which eventually granted them bail on Friday.
In a video published by SaharaReporters on Monday, Sowore, Ejimakor, Emmanuel Kanu and the others were seen leaving the prison premises with their belongings while singing a solidarity song.
It was reported that Ejimakor collapsed and was rushed to the Kuje correctional centre’s clinic for medical attention.
