A former Chief of Staff to the President, Major General Abdullahi Mohammed (rtd.) died early this morning (Wednesday). He was 86 years old.
Mohammed served as Chief of Staff to the then Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo (1999 to 2007) and Umaru Musa Yar’adua (2007 to 2008).
Adangba, as fondly called, was also National Security Adviser to General Abdulsalami Abubakar, who was Head of State from 8 June 1998 to 29 May 1999.
The retired General also served as Director General of the now defunct National Security Organisation (1976-1979) during the Obasanjo military administration from 1976 to 1979.
He was also military Governor of the old Benue-Plateau State from July 1975 to February 1976.
