Rotary Club of Ikeja champions polio eradication through immunisation

As the world commemorated the World Polio Day recently, foremost Rotary club in Rotary International District 9111, the Rotary Club of Ikeja joined the global campaign to sustain a polio-free world with the End Polio Immunisation programme, which took place at the Isolo Community Centre, Rotary Road, Isolo Lagos.

The programme was attended by over 50 mothers who brought their children for immunisation as well as members of the club.

At the event, the club’s President, Rotarian Lanre Lawal said that the club was committed to joining other clubs around the world to make the world a polio-free one.

She said: ‘As you are aware, Rotary International is at the forefront in eradicating polio and making this world a polio-free one. At Rotary Club of Ikeja, we are as passionate about this cause as other Rotary clubs in the world.

‘We are here in our community to sensitise the mothers about the importance of immunizing their children, especially from age zero to five years old. In addition, we have also carried out immunisation exercise and we are very grateful to the health personnel as well as mothers who have trooped out to benefit from this exercise’.
