Super Eagles bundled out of W/Cup qualification; lose on penalties to DR Congo

The Super Eagles crashed out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Sunday night in Rabat, Morocco.

After coming from behind to level scores 1-1 in regulation time, DR Congo stayed in the match even in extra time, and went on to triumph 3-2 in the penalty shootouts.

DR Congo will now proceed to the inter-confederation playoffs to contest against five teams to determine the last two tickets for the FIFA World Cup finals.

DR Congo have not appeared in the FIFA World Cup finals since 1974 when the country was known as Zaire.
