Residents in Rivers State woke up on the eve of election day to the news of attacks on residences of two politicians by suspected assailants.
The Guardian reports that hoodlums allegedly threw dynamite at the residence of an immediate past Commissioner for Water Resources, Dr Tamunosisi Jaja.
The source said that one of the assailants, Destiny Iganibo, who is said to be a member of Grassroots Development Initiative, was part of the gang of terrorists who invaded Jaja’s residence in the early hours of Friday, and ignited dynamites.
Meanwhile, a House of Assembly candidate for Etche constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Charles Anyanwu narrowly escaped death as arsonists attacked his residence in Port Harcourt.
He was said to have survived an attack a few days ago when some yet-to-be-identified gunmen shot at his convoy at a campaign rally in Etche.
Sources close to the candidate said the arsonists invaded Anyanwu’s residence and detonated an improvised substance suspected to be dynamites.
