Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on a leg injury.

The 25-year-old sustained the injury during Forest’s Europa League quarter-final second-leg win over Porto last Thursday.

He subsequently missed Sunday’s 4-1 Premier League victory over Burnley before the club confirmed he had undergone surgery.

In a statement on Tuesday, Forest said the operation was successful, but confirmed the former Chelsea forward will not return to full fitness until pre-season.

Hudson-Odoi later took to Instagram to reflect on the setback and express his determination to recover strongly.

‘Surgery was successful, but definitely not the way I wanted to end the season. ‘But with God’s timing and plan, hopefully I’ll be back stronger and better than before’, he said.

The injury comes at a crucial stage of the season for Vítor Pereira’s side, who are fighting to maintain their Premier League status while also competing in Europe.

Forest are currently five points clear of the relegation zone.

They still face a demanding run-in, with fixtures against Sunderland, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Manchester United, and Bournemouth remaining in the league campaign.

In Europe, Forest are preparing for a Europa League semi-final clash against Aston Villa, with the first leg scheduled for 30 April.

Hudson-Odoi’s absence is a significant setback for Forest, removing one of their key attacking threats at a decisive point in both their domestic and continental campaigns.
