APC suspends ex-public complaint commissioner for anti-party activities

A former Federal Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission, Barrister Willie Amadi has been expelled by All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party’s leadership in his Ikenegbu Ward 1 (Owerri Municipal Council) of Imo State found Amadi gulity of allegations bordering on anti-party activities.

Amadi, who is well-known within the political circle, has been the subject of an ongoing investigation by a panel of inquiry set up by the party leadership.

According to sources close to the panel, Amadi, who is the Chief Technical Adviser on Environment to Governor Hope Uzodimma, was accused of involvement in malicious activities aimed at bringing the party to disrepute.

The expulsion letter which was signed by 28 members including the Ward Chairman, Chuka Ihejieto; Secretary, Chidiebere Emeribe; Legal Adviser, George Amos; Treasurer, Julie Agor; Publicity Secretary, Kelechi Iwuoha; Organising Secretary, Okey Njiribako; and Auditor, Jerry Emenyonu,among others, stated: “Amadi has consistently engaged in blackmailing APC leaders, character assassination, publication and circulation of false information and engaging in malicious activities aimed at bringing our party to disrepute.

“That Amadi has not participated in party activities for the past one year especially throughout the 2023 electioneering campaign in Owerri Municipal till date.

“Consequently, the ward executive committee met and having thoroughly considered the issues and the recommendation of the disciplinary committee hereby decided that Willie Amadi having contravened sections 21.2, i, ii, iii, vii, viii of the APC constitution as amended be expelled from the  party”.

The news of Amadi’s expulsion  has sent shockwaves through the political landscape, with many supporters of the party expressing disappointment and anger over the actions of the suspended member.

However, the party leadership has assured its supporters that the decision to expel the member was necessary to preserve the integrity and values of the party.

In a statement, the party’s spokesperson, Chidiebere Emeribe said that the party leadership had no choice but to take action against the member given the severity of the allegations against him.

He reassured the party’s supporters that the leadership would take all necessary measures to ensure that the party’s values and principles are upheld at all times.

The state Publicity Secretary of the APC, Duke Cajetan said: “I learnt from the social media that his ward did so, but we have not received any official communication at the state to that effect”.
