The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has commended the Federal Government and security agencies following the release of pupils and teachers who were abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda described the rescue as a demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting lives and property. He said the operation was made possible through collaboration between the nation’s security agencies, the Federal Government and the Oyo State Government.

He congratulated the security agencies and expressed relief at the release of the victims after several days in captivity. Yilwatda also sympathised with the victims and their families, acknowledging the psychological and emotional impact of the ordeal, and prayed for their recovery.

The APC chairman commended the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), local intelligence networks and other agencies involved in the operation. He said the outcome highlighted the importance of intelligence sharing and inter-agency cooperation in addressing security challenges.

Yilwatda also praised the Oyo State Government for working with the Federal Government and security agencies during the rescue efforts. According to him, the partnership demonstrated that national security requires cooperation across all levels of government.

He reiterated the commitment of the APC-led Federal Government to improving national security, saying the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would continue to strengthen the country’s security architecture, enhance intelligence gathering, deploy modern technology and provide support for security agencies.

“The safety of Nigerians remains the foremost responsibility of government. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is leaving no stone unturned in his determination to rid the country of criminality and create a secure environment where every Nigerian can live, work, learn and pursue legitimate livelihoods without fear,” the statement quoted him as saying.

Yilwatda urged Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible and timely information to help prevent crime and assist ongoing operations. He said tackling terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes required cooperation between citizens and security institutions.

He added that the APC remained confident in the Tinubu administration’s security reforms and said the Federal Government would continue efforts to improve security across the country.
