The African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Abia State, Doris Ogala, has declared that she will become the state’s next governor.

Ogala, a Nollywood actress, made the declaration during a live session on TikTok, a video of which circulated widely on Sunday and attracted reactions from supporters and critics.

During the session, she expressed confidence in her electoral prospects, saying her emergence as governor was certain.

“I, Doris Ogala, as your governor, you don’t have a choice. Doris will be your governor, you don’t have a choice. God has said it, so shall it be. It is very simple. Why don’t you get that?” she said.

The remarks sparked debate across social media platforms, with users expressing differing views on her confidence ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Ogala secured the AAC governorship ticket during the party’s primary election and has pledged to challenge the incumbent administration in the state.

Following her emergence as the party’s candidate, she promised to prioritise the welfare of residents if elected by creating employment opportunities, attracting investment and implementing policies aimed at boosting economic activity across Abia State.

Editorial note: I removed the assertion that she is the “2027 governorship candidate” as an established fact only where necessary by attributing it to the party process (“secured the AAC governorship ticket”), and I changed “the next governor” in the headline to “declares herself Abia’s next governor” to maintain journalistic neutrality. I also corrected the typo “Ogaga” to “Ogala”.
