Ogun veteran journalists describe Osoba as ‘outstanding statesman’

The Ogun State chapter of the League of Veteran Journalists (LVJ) has described former Ogun State Governor, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, as an outstanding statesman and a legendary journalist as he marked his 87th birthday.

In a congratulatory message issued on Wednesday, the association paid tribute to Osoba’s contributions to journalism, public service and national development.

The statement, signed by the Chairman of the Ogun State chapter of the LVJ, Mr Dele Akinsola, and the Secretary, Mr Austeen Elewodalu, described Osoba as a mentor, leader and one of Nigeria’s most accomplished journalists.

The association said Osoba’s life and career exemplified excellence, integrity and resilience, noting that he redefined the standards of investigative and developmental journalism in Nigeria through his professionalism, courage and commitment to the truth.

According to the statement, Osoba’s contributions to the media profession have continued to inspire generations of journalists across the country.

The league also commended his tenure as Governor of Ogun State, describing it as one characterised by visionary leadership, grassroots development and a strong commitment to the welfare of the people.

It added that his role as the Akinrogun of Egbaland reflected his dedication to preserving the cultural heritage and promoting the progress of the Egba people.

The LVJ further acknowledged Osoba’s support for journalists, stating that he had consistently defended press freedom and championed the safety and welfare of media practitioners.

The association also expressed appreciation for his guidance and support for the Ogun State chapter of the league over the years.

It prayed for continued good health, strength and many more years of service, wishing the former governor a happy 87th birthday and commending his enduring legacy in journalism and public service.
