Nigeria’s Favour Ashe and Nicholas Fakorede have qualified for the semi-finals of the men’s 100 metres at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Ashe won his heat in 10.10 seconds, finishing ahead of Kenya’s Meshack Babu, who clocked 10.21 seconds, while Guyana’s Akeem Stewart placed third in 10.55 seconds.
Fakorede also progressed after finishing second in his heat in 10.21 seconds. He was beaten only by Lesotho’s Mojela Koneshe, who won the race in 10.07 seconds to set a new national record.
Singapore’s Marc Brian Louis finished third with a season’s best time of 10.38 seconds.
Another Nigerian, Kanyinsola Ajayi, advanced to the semi-finals after receiving a bye.
The three Nigerians will compete for places in the final on Tuesday.
Ashe will contest the first semi-final, Ajayi has been drawn in the second semi-final, while Fakorede will compete in the third semi-final.
