Chelsea forward Mykhailo Mudryk has been cleared to return to competitive football after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) partially upheld his appeal against a four-year doping ban.
The 25-year-old is now eligible to play with immediate effect after agreeing to a suspension equivalent to the period he has already served.
Mudryk has not featured in a competitive match since November 2024. He was provisionally suspended by the Football Association in December 2024 after testing positive for meldonium, a prohibited substance.
The Ukrainian was subsequently handed the maximum four-year suspension by the FA but challenged the decision at CAS.
Following its ruling, CAS confirmed that Mudryk could return to competition immediately after accepting that he had breached anti-doping regulations.
The midfielder’s suspension will therefore be limited to the time he has already spent out of football.
Chelsea welcomed the decision and said they were looking forward to helping Mudryk regain full fitness before returning to first-team action.
The club confirmed that the player will join the squad on their pre-season tour as he begins his return to competitive football.
Mudryk’s comeback comes after more than 20 months away from competitive action and will provide Chelsea with another attacking option ahead of the new season.
