FootballSportsSuper Falcons eye WAFCON q/final ticket against Egypt Last updated: 5 August 2026 7:33 am By Breezynews Share 2 Min Read SHARE Nigeria’s Super Falcons will seek to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations when they take on Egypt in their final Group C fixture in Rabat on Wednesday.The nine-time African champions bounced back from a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Malawi in their opening match by edging Zambia 1-0, keeping their knockout hopes firmly alive.Victory over Egypt would lift Nigeria to six points, although qualification will also depend on the outcome of the other Group C encounter between Malawi and Zambia.Despite Egypt suffering heavy defeats in their first two matches — a 6-0 loss to Zambia followed by a 3-1 defeat to Malawi — the Super Falcons are expected to approach the contest with caution.Head coach Justine Madugu will be forced into changes after losing defender Tosin Demehin and midfielder Jennifer Echegini to suspension. Demehin was dismissed during the win over Zambia for denying Barbra Banda a clear goalscoring opportunity, while Echegini is suspended after accumulating two yellow cards in the tournament.Christy Ucheibe, who impressed after replacing Demehin in defence against Zambia, is expected to partner experienced centre-back Osinachi Ohale. Toni Payne could return to midfield alongside captain Rasheedat Ajibade and Halimatu Ayinde.In attack, Uchenna Kanu is in contention for a starting role after making an impact from the bench against Malawi, while Asisat Oshoala, scorer of the winner against Zambia, is also expected to lead the line.Malawi currently top Group C with six points, while Nigeria and Zambia have three points each.
