The Zamfara State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has donated ₦500,000 to assist victims and families affected by the recent bandit attack on Kasuwar Daji in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, where an unspecified number of residents were abducted.
The donation was announced during a sympathy visit by the party’s leadership to the affected community. The NDC also urged the Federal Government and the Zamfara State Government to take immediate and decisive measures to tackle the worsening insecurity across the state.
In a statement issued after the visit by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Kasim Almustapha Kayatawa, the NDC said it stood in solidarity with the people of Kasuwar Daji and other communities affected by persistent bandit attacks.
Leading the delegation, the party’s State Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Atiku Durbi Birnin Magaji, described the incident as tragic and unacceptable, saying it underscored the severe impact of insecurity on residents of Zamfara.
He said the visit was intended not only to provide financial support but also to reassure victims and their families that they were not alone during the difficult period.
According to him, every attack leaves behind families whose lives have been disrupted, with many residents forced to live in fear and uncertainty.
Durbi condemned the latest assault and appealed to security agencies to strengthen operations in Kaura Namoda and other vulnerable areas by improving intelligence gathering and deploying more personnel to affected communities.
He stressed that safeguarding lives and property remains the primary responsibility of government, adding that residents deserved lasting security rather than repeated expressions of sympathy after attacks.
The NDC also called for increased security patrols across Kaura Namoda Local Government Area and other identified flashpoints to curb further abductions and restore public confidence.
During the visit, members of the delegation offered prayers for the safe return of those abducted, for the repose of the souls of those killed, and for the speedy recovery of the injured. They also prayed for security personnel who lost their lives while protecting communities from criminal attacks.
The delegation included the Deputy State Welfare Secretary, Hon. Salmanu Sani Haidara; the Zamfara North Zonal Vice Chairman, Auwal Alhassan Alhazzai; and other party officials and stakeholders.
Reaffirming its position, the party said it would continue to advocate for policies that promote peace, justice and the welfare of the people of Zamfara.
The latest attack on Kasuwar Daji has further heightened concerns over the security situation in northern Zamfara, where communities have continued to call for stronger government intervention and improved protection against recurring bandit attacks.
