The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has once again placed Nigeria in the global spotlight after its Mountain Top Chorale emerged champions at the 2026 World Choir Games in Helsingborg, Sweden.
The Nigerian choir won two gold medals at the prestigious competition, securing gold in the C11 category for Sacred Music with accompaniment and emerging world champions in the C14 Spiritual category.
The 2026 World Choir Games featured more than 160 choir groups from 40 countries, with the MFM Mountain Top Chorale representing Nigeria as the only participating choir from Africa.
The achievement comes 10 years after the choir first participated in the World Choir Games.
The Mountain Top Chorale also represented Nigeria at the 2024 edition of the competition in Auckland, New Zealand, where more than 11,000 singers from over 30 countries participated.
At the 2024 games, the Nigerian choir won two gold medals in the Champions Competition, securing victories in Category C19, Contemporary Music – Mixed Voices, and Category C22, Spiritual.
Following the announcement of the Mountain Top Chorale as winners of the Spiritual category in Helsingborg, the Nigerian flag was raised at the venue while the country’s national anthem was played to the admiration of participants and guests.
Members of the choir subsequently celebrated on the podium by singing and dancing to the MFM anthem, “Olorun MFM, Olorun Alagbara”, meaning “God of MFM, most powerful God”.
The 53-member Nigerian delegation was reportedly sponsored entirely by the General Overseer of MFM worldwide, Dr Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, who is known for his longstanding interest in church music and choral development.
While several participating choirs were sponsored by their respective governments, the MFM team travelled to Sweden with the support of Olukoya.
The MFM founder, who is also a renowned chorister, has invested significantly in music ministries, supporting individuals, groups and musical departments in churches across Nigeria.
The latest victory adds to the Mountain Top Chorale’s growing record on the international stage and further highlights Nigeria’s contribution to global choral music.
