Pastor William Folorunsho Kumuyi’s latest book, Countdown to the End – Revelation of the Great Tribulation and the Antichrist (Part One), has been described as a timely call to repentance and spiritual preparedness for the return of Jesus Christ.
The 240-page book, published by Life Press Limited, was reviewed by writer Banji Ojewale, who commended Kumuyi for presenting biblical teachings on the end times without attaching speculative dates to prophetic events.
Ojewale noted that many previous writers on eschatology had weakened their message by making failed predictions about the timing of the end of the world. He said Kumuyi avoided such pitfalls by relying predominantly on Scripture, particularly the books of Daniel and Revelation, while using the subject to emphasise evangelism and the need for Christians and unbelievers alike to prepare spiritually.
According to the reviewer, the book examines events expected to follow the Rapture, including the Great Tribulation, the rise of the Antichrist, divine judgement and the eventual establishment of Christ’s kingdom. Kumuyi, who is the General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, argues that believers will be taken away before the full outpouring of divine wrath on the world.
Ojewale highlighted Kumuyi’s repeated emphasis on repentance, noting that the book does not merely present the horrors of the Great Tribulation but also points readers to salvation through Jesus Christ as the way of escape from eternal condemnation.
The reviewer also praised the book’s simple prose, extensive biblical references and use of memorable expressions and alliteration to reinforce its message. He cited phrases such as “painful, protracted, personal, and perplexing” and “falsehood, force, furnace, famine, fear and flattery” as examples of Kumuyi’s rhetorical style.
The book also addresses several controversial questions surrounding biblical prophecy, including who will make Heaven, the identity of the 144,000 mentioned in Revelation, and the identity of the two witnesses described in Revelation 11.
However, Ojewale identified some areas that could be improved in future editions. These include the use of more colour illustrations, a discrepancy he observed in the depiction of the Mighty Angel on page 131, and some typographical errors in the opening pages.
Despite these observations, Ojewale concluded that Countdown to the End demonstrates Kumuyi’s strong commitment to using biblical eschatology to draw people back to God.
He described the book as a work of “incontrovertible gravitas,” stressing that its message is relevant to sinners, backsliders and believers, all of whom, according to Kumuyi, need God’s grace to escape the coming wrath and remain faithful until the end.
