Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is battling stage 4 cancer, according to his daughters, who have appealed for urgent medical assistance.

Hassan’s daughters, Lima and Kira, made separate emotional appeals on Instagram on Monday, seeking help from Nigerians, medical professionals and well-wishers to enable their father to access further treatment.

Lima said the actor’s condition had deteriorated to the point where the hospital treating him could no longer administer chemotherapy.

She said the family was not primarily seeking financial support, but assistance from medical professionals or institutions that could offer further treatment.

“We are not here to beg for money,” Lima said, while expressing gratitude to Senator Enoh, whom she credited with supporting the family and covering her father’s medical expenses.

According to her, Hassan’s abdomen had become swollen and he was experiencing severe pain.

She urged anyone with knowledge of possible treatment options or access to specialised medical care to contact her or her sister through Instagram.

Lima also said her father was fearful about his condition, quoting him as saying he did not want to die.

The appeals have prompted calls for medical professionals and other well-wishers who may be able to assist the veteran actor to come forward.

Hassan, one of the prominent figures in the Nigerian film industry, has enjoyed a long career in Nollywood, particularly in Yoruba-language productions.

The family has not publicly provided further details about the type of cancer or the medical facility where the actor is receiving treatment.
