There was panic in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State on Friday after the chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the council, Oyewole Mayowa Solomon, collapsed and died during a party reconciliation meeting.
Solomon reportedly became unwell and suddenly collapsed while taking part in a meeting convened by one of his predecessors, Funsho Olumoko, as part of efforts to promote unity among APC stakeholders in the area.
His sudden collapse reportedly threw participants into confusion as efforts were made to save him.
He was subsequently rushed to a hospital in Kabba for medical attention but reportedly died shortly after arriving at the facility.
The meeting was aimed at resolving differences and strengthening unity among members of the ruling party in Ijumu.
As of the time of filing this report, the circumstances surrounding Solomon’s sudden death had not been officially disclosed.
