The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said Governor Seyi Makinde will be held accountable for any state resources allegedly spent on his presidential ambition.
The party made the allegation in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Sadare.
Makinde is the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) ahead of the 2027 general election.
The Oyo APC described the governor’s presidential ambition as a “mere charade”, alleging that he lacks the qualities and experience required to lead the country.
The party also claimed that Makinde would be required to account for any public funds allegedly used to pursue his presidential ambition after leaving office as governor.
“Makinde knows, in his mind, that contesting for the Nigerian presidency is not a child’s play,” the statement said.
“While he does not possess the personal quality, experience and strategy to be the next President in 2027, but yet, he is parading himself as the presidential candidate of the structureless Allied People’s Movement (APM).”
The APC said it was monitoring Makinde’s political activities ahead of the 2027 election and alleged that his presidential campaign had “failed before its commencement”.
“Makinde is being monitored as he embarks on a political journey that has failed before its commencement while he would be made to cough out all the public funds he wasted on it,” the party added.
The governor and the APM have yet to publicly respond to the allegations contained in the statement.
