Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has relieved the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Toyin Balogun, of her appointment and immediately named former commissioner, Faosat Sanni, as her replacement.

The development was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju.

Governor Makinde expressed appreciation to Balogun for her service and contributions to the development of Oyo State, wishing her success in her future endeavours.

Sanni is no stranger to the ministry, having previously served as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion between 2019 and 2023.

Following the governor’s cabinet reshuffle in 2023, she was redeployed to the Ministry of Special Duties before her most recent assignment at the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperative.

The latest appointment forms part of a broader reorganisation within the Makinde administration.

Earlier this week, the governor forwarded the name of the Permanent Secretary, General Administration, Olabode Ladipo, to the Oyo State House of Assembly for confirmation as a commissioner.

Makinde also approved the appointment of Ifeoluwa Akande as Chairman of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport Upgrade Committee, Isola Adekunle as Executive Adviser on Intra-Party Affairs, and Oladejo Oladokun as a Part-Time Member of the Local Government Service Commission.

According to a letter signed by the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, all the appointments take effect from July 1, 2026.

The governor congratulated the appointees and urged them to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, loyalty and commitment to the service of the state.

The latest changes come months after Governor Makinde carried out a cabinet reshuffle in January 2026, during which he removed the Secretary to the State Government, Olanike Adeyemo, from office.

At the time, he also named his Senior Special Assistant on Public Works, Ademola Aderinto, as a commissioner-designate, while appointing Abiodun Adedoja as Special Adviser on Energy Security and Kolawole Elijah Akanmu as Senior Special Assistant on Budget and Economic Planning.

The governor has maintained that the periodic appointments and cabinet adjustments are aimed at strengthening governance and improving service delivery across Oyo State.
