Nollywood actress Adebimpe Oyebade, popularly known as Mo Bimpe, has addressed the controversy surrounding a viral video showing her interacting with fellow actor Jide Awobona in the presence of her husband, Lateef Adedimeji.

The brief clip, recorded during the premiere of A Mama Deola Wedding Story in Lagos on September 2, 2026, sparked reactions on social media, with some users questioning the nature of the interaction between the two actors.

Mo Bimpe, however, dismissed the speculation, describing the exchange as a normal conversation between friends.

The actress addressed the controversy on her Instagram Story on Sunday, expressing surprise that a short clip had become a subject of public analysis.

“A one minute clip of myself & Jide has somehow become a topic of public analysis,” she wrote.

She questioned why what she described as a simple conversation between friends was being interpreted suspiciously.

“It’s fascinating how a normal conversation between friends has become suspicious to some of you,” she added.

Mo Bimpe also defended her marriage to Lateef Adedimeji, stressing that their relationship is based on trust, friendship, respect and confidence rather than fear or insecurity.

“Not every marriage is built on fear, insecurity, and constant monitoring. Some marriages are built on trust, friendship, respect, and confidence,” she stated.

The actress suggested that the reactions to the video could be influenced by the kind of relationships some of those commenting were accustomed to.

“The fact that so many of you found that interaction strange says more about the relationships you’re used to than it does about mine,” she said.

She further maintained that healthy marriages still exist and should not automatically be viewed through the lens of toxicity.

“Not every marriage is toxic, there are still healthy marriages but I understand if you can’t relate,” she wrote.

Addressing speculation about her husband’s reaction to the interaction, Mo Bimpe described Lateef as a secure man who was not threatened by her conversation with Awobona.

“My husband is a secure man, a brief conversation with a family friend does not threaten our marriage, or require anyone’s concern,” she said.

The viral video had earlier generated mixed reactions across social media platforms, prompting the actress to publicly clarify the situation.

Mo Bimpe and Lateef Adedimeji got married in December 2021 and remain prominent figures in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
