Nigeria’s D’Tigress ended their 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup campaign on a disappointing note after suffering a heavy 111–56 defeat to France in their final Group game.
Rena Wakama’s side had already been eliminated from the competition following defeats to South Korea and Hungary in their opening two matches.
D’Tigress began their campaign with a 99–81 loss to South Korea before narrowly falling 71–68 to Hungary.
Against France, Nigeria struggled from the opening tip as the European side raced to a 31–13 lead at the end of the first quarter.
France continued their dominance in the second quarter, extending their advantage to 65–26 by half-time.
The French side maintained their control after the break, adding 30 points in the third quarter before finishing the game with another 16 in the final period.
D’Tigress managed just 56 points throughout the contest, scoring 13 points in each of the first three quarters before producing 17 in the final period.
The defeat brought Nigeria’s World Cup campaign to a disappointing conclusion after the African champions failed to secure a victory in any of their three Group matches.
