No fewer than 20 players have arrived at the Super Eagles’ camp in Ikot Ikpene, Akwa Ibom State, ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the players in camp include Simon Moses, Akor Adams, Taiwo Awoniyi, Isaac James, Emmanuel Fernandez, Benjamin Fredericks, Moses Uzor and George Ilenikhena.
Others are Arthur Okonkwo, Alex Iwobi, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina, Ademola Lookman, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Chibuike Nwaiwu.
Tolu Arokodare, Bruno Onyemaechi, Raphael Onyedika and Frank Onyeka complete the 20 players currently in camp.
The Super Eagles Media Officer, Promise Efoghe, told NAN that Wilfred Ndidi, Samuel Chukwueze and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali were expected to join the squad around noon.
“Camp opened today, and preparations have commenced for the qualifiers,” Efoghe said.
Nigeria will begin its qualifying campaign against Madagascar in Uyo on September 25 before travelling to face Guinea-Bissau on September 29.
The Super Eagles are also scheduled to play an international friendly against Russia on October 6.
Efoghe said the team’s first training session would take place later on Tuesday, with the opening 15 minutes available to accredited media representatives.
He added that the players would be available for exclusive interviews with the media on Wednesday at the team’s base in Ikot Ikpene.
The exact time for Wednesday’s media engagements will be communicated later, according to the team’s media officer.
