Nigeria’s Super Eagles are set to face Russia in an international friendly at the 44,000-capacity Nizhny Novgorod Stadium on 6 October 2026.
The fixture will come 16 months after both countries played out a 1-1 draw at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow in June 2025.
Russia took the lead in that encounter through an own goal by Nigeria defender Semi Ajayi, before Tolu Arokodare restored parity for the Super Eagles in the second half.
The latest meeting was confirmed by Nigeria’s FIFA Match Agent, Jairo Pachon of Eurodatasports, with the fixture marking the second encounter between the two nations in 16 months.
The friendly is scheduled one week after Nigeria’s second 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Guinea-Bissau in Bissau on 29 September.
Eric Chelle’s side will begin their AFCON qualifying campaign at home against Madagascar on 25 September before travelling to Guinea-Bissau four days later.
The Russia clash will give Chelle another opportunity to assess his squad ahead of subsequent international commitments.
Nigeria are currently ranked 26th in the world, while Russia occupy 35th position. The match will be played at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, one of the venues used during the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The Super Eagles missed out on qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup but have continued to arrange international friendlies as part of their preparations for upcoming competitions.
Their recent friendly fixtures include a 2-2 draw against Poland and a 2-1 defeat to Portugal.
