Reality television star Phyna and skit maker Carter Efe emerged victorious in their respective celebrity boxing bouts at Balmoral Promotions’ Chaos in the Ring event held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, on 1 October 2026.
In the main event, Ghanaian boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah defeated Godday “Zodsolo” Appah by unanimous decision to claim the WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship.
Phyna, whose real name is Josephina Otabor, made history after knocking out actress Nkechi Blessing in their scheduled four-round contest, becoming the winner of Nigeria’s first female celebrity boxing bout.
Speaking after the fight, the former Big Brother Naija winner challenged Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia to her next celebrity boxing contest.
Phyna accused Etinosa of repeatedly contacting her through direct messages and said she was ready to settle their differences in the ring.
“I came in, and I kept my cool and did the thing. Now I would like to fight Etinosa. I think it is time I teach her a lesson,” Phyna said.
Etinosa, who watched the bout from ringside, accepted the challenge.
“I have been advising you to carry the Edo name with pride. We do not run from any fight. I accept the challenge fully,” she said.
Phyna received ₦50 million as the winner of the bout and indicated that she was interested in pursuing professional boxing, suggesting that her victory could mark the beginning of a longer career in the sport.
In the second celebrity bout, Carter Efe dominated musician Speed Darlington throughout their four-round contest before securing a technical knockout.
Speed Darlington was stopped after he ceased moving during the contest, handing Efe another victory in the Chaos in the Ring celebrity boxing series.
The victory extended Carter Efe’s unbeaten record in the series. He had previously defeated singer Habeeb “Portable” Badmus in a celebrity boxing contest on 1 May 2026 at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island.
Efe won that three-round contest by unanimous decision after all three judges scored the bout 30-27 in his favour.
The rivalry between Carter Efe and Speed Darlington had intensified during the build-up to their October meeting, with both entertainers exchanging confrontational remarks before facing each other in the ring.
In the main event, Appah surrendered his WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship to Gyimah, who secured a unanimous-decision victory to become the new champion.
The event brought together celebrity entertainers and professional boxers for a night featuring celebrity contests, rivalries and championship boxing.
The event was broadcast live on SuperSport and DAZN, with the card powered by Bet9ja.
