Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has declared Monday, 5 October 2026, a work-free day for teachers across the state to mark this year’s World Teachers’ Day.

The declaration was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the governor’s Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Mashood Agboola.

AbdulRazaq extended his best wishes to teachers across the state and commended them for their contributions to human capital development and their dedication to their duties.

“His Excellency extends his best wishes to teachers across the length and breadth of the state whose contributions to human capital development is acknowledged at all times,” Agboola said.

The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of teachers and other residents of the state.

“He reassures them of his administration’s commitment to the welfare of the teachers and of every Kwaran,” the statement added.

AbdulRazaq wished teachers a rewarding and prosperous career as they celebrate the annual event.

In a separate development, the governor approved a N50,000 support grant for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state.

He announced the grant during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2026 Batch C, Stream One corps members at the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.

According to the governor, the grant is intended to cushion the effect of current economic realities on corps members and support them as they begin their service year in Kwara State.

The state government has also recently highlighted its commitment to the education sector, including the approval of cash backing for the 2025 promotion exercise for eligible teaching and non-teaching staff under the Teaching Service Commission.
