The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reduced the pump price of petrol at its filling stations in Abuja to ₦1,370 per litre, days after increasing it to ₦1,405 per litre over the weekend.

A market survey indicated that NNPCL outlets adjusted their prices downwards by ₦35 per litre on Monday, returning to the previous rate of ₦1,370.

The company’s filling stations in Berger, Wuse Zone 6 and Wuse Zone 4 were reportedly dispensing petrol at the revised price as of Monday.

The development comes amid NNPCL’s ₦66-per-litre fuel discount, which is available exclusively to motorists using the company’s recently unveiled mobile application.

Last Thursday, the Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, proposed a fixed petrol price of ₦1,350 per litre at NNPCL filling stations.

The proposal sparked debate, with some describing it as a possible return to fuel subsidy. However, Oyedele and the Presidency dismissed the claims, insisting that the measure was a discount rather than a subsidy.

The latest price adjustment comes as motorists continue to monitor changes in petrol prices across the country.
