Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has donated football boots to 350 young players participating in the Kwara Kiddies League through his foundation as part of efforts to promote grassroots football development.
The donation is aimed at providing the youngsters with the equipment needed to improve their skills and pursue their football ambitions.
The distribution ceremony, held on Saturday, was attended by the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Bolakale Mogaji, who commended the striker for his continued investment in youth football.
Mogaji, who participated in distributing the boots, described Awoniyi as a committed partner in grassroots sports development, stressing the importance of providing young players with the resources and opportunities needed to nurture their talents.
He called on more individuals to invest in grassroots sports, noting that initiatives such as Awoniyi’s were essential to building a sustainable football development system in the state.
The sports commission chairman also expressed hope that the striker’s contributions would inspire other sports personalities to support emerging talents in their communities.
Speaking at the event, Kwara Kiddies League Chief Operating Officer, Ibrahim Jatto, thanked the Taiwo Awoniyi Foundation on behalf of the competition’s more than 500 young players.
Jatto said the foundation had consistently supported the league over the years through the provision of playing kits, meals and cash rewards worth millions of naira for outstanding players.
He added that the latest donation would further motivate the youngsters, many of whom aspire to become professional footballers.
Jatto also highlighted the league’s efforts to improve players’ visibility through subscriptions to Wyscout and Eyeball, scouting and football analysis platforms that can help showcase their performances to a wider audience.
“With increased visibility through our league’s subscriptions on Wyscout and Eyeball, your continued support is helping create greater opportunities for these young talents,” he said.
Awoniyi, who serves as chairman of the Kwara Kiddies League, has continued to support grassroots football through initiatives designed to equip young players and create opportunities for their development.
His latest intervention adds to the foundation’s efforts to nurture emerging football talents in Kwara State and strengthen the development of the game from the grassroots.
