The actor maintained that he would not entertain criticism of Tinubu during social interactions, saying he did not feel obliged to share the views of others on the President’s performance.
He added that his stance would remain the same even if he personally had a disagreement or negative experience involving the President.
“If you are my friend and while we are together, you talk against President Bola Tinubu, I will walk away because he has not been what you’re saying to me. I don’t have to support you,” Laniyan said.
“Even if he does it to me, I will not engage in the conversation, I will still walk away,” he added.
His comments come amid ongoing public debate over the Tinubu administration’s performance, particularly its handling of Nigeria’s economic challenges and the rising cost of living.
The remarks also follow comments by another veteran Nollywood actor, Jide Kosoko, who recently defended the President’s administration amid concerns about the country’s economic difficulties.
Kosoko argued that the current hardship should not be attributed solely to the Tinubu government, contending that previous administrations had failed to plan adequately for Nigeria’s growing population.
Both actors’ comments have added to the wider discussion about the government’s performance and the role of public figures in expressing their political views.
