Chelsea have sacked manager Graham Potter after less than seven months in charge following Saturday’s 0-2 home defeat by Aston Villa.
It was the Englishman’s 11th defeat in 31 games since replacing Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge on 8th September.
Leicester also parted company with manager Brendan Rodgers on Sunday as they look to maintain their Premier League status.
The Foxes dropped into the relegation zone after conceding late to lose 1-2 at Crystal Palace on Saturday, which extended their winless run to six games.
Six-time winners of the English top flight league (first division and Premier League), Chelsea have dropped to 11th in the English Premier League (EPL) – 12 points outside the top four – having spent more than £550 million on new players this season.
The club’s owners said they were “disappointed” to sack Potter.
Chelsea said Potter “has agreed to collaborate with the club to facilitate a smooth transition” and that Bruno Saltor, who worked with Potter at Brighton, will take charge of the team as interim head coach.
In a statement, co-controlling owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali said: “We have the highest degree of respect for Graham as a coach and as a person.
“He has always conducted himself with professionalism and integrity and we are all disappointed in this outcome”.
Chelsea host Liverpool in the Premier League on Tuesday and face Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on 12th April.
There have now been 13 managerial changes in the EPL this season.
For Leicester City’s Rodgers, who recently celebrated four years in charge at the King Power, delivering two top-five finishes in the EPL and the club’s first ever FA Cup win in 2021, he leaves by mutual consent.
In a club statement, chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said: “Performances and results during the current season have been below our shared expectations.
“It had been our belief that continuity and stability would be key to correcting our course, particularly given our previous achievements under Brendan’s management.
“Regrettably, the desired improvement has not been forthcoming and, with 10 games of the season remaining, the board is compelled to take alternative action to protect our Premier League status”.
First-team coaches Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell have been put in temporary charge.
