The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has received multiple awards and nominations from media organisations and industry stakeholders in recognition of its efforts to promote fair competition and protect consumer rights in Nigeria.
The recognitions came from Daily Independent Newspaper, Naija Times, the Aisha Babangida Foundation and BrandXchange.
At a ceremony held at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, Naija Times presented the FCCPC with the Institutional Integrity and Public Service Award.
Presenting the award to the commission’s Chief Executive Officer, Tunji Bello, the Chairman of the Naija Times Journalism Foundation and Publisher of Naija Times, Ehi Braimah, said the honour recognised the commission’s contributions to consumer welfare, competitive markets and responsible business practices.
Braimah was accompanied by the newspaper’s Editorial Board Chairman, James Akpadem, and Editor, Toby Prince.
In his response, Bello expressed appreciation for the recognition, describing it as an encouragement for the commission to strengthen its commitment to consumer protection and fair market practices.
He said the impact of the commission’s work on consumers and the integrity of the marketplace remained its priority, adding that the recognitions would motivate it to do more.
The ceremony was attended by the FCCPC Executive Commissioner of Operations, Louis Odion; the Executive Commissioner of Corporate Services, Ummusalma Isiaku Rabiu; and other directors of the commission.
The FCCPC was also nominated for the Regulator of the Year 2026 award by Daily Independent Newspaper, which commended the commission’s commitment to carrying out its mandate.
Similarly, the Women Enterprise Alliance, under the Aisha Babangida Foundation, shortlisted the commission for the Regulatory Body of the Year Award.
The foundation said the nomination acknowledged the role of effective regulation in strengthening business confidence, market participation and sustainable economic development.
In another recognition, BrandXchange named the FCCPC the Citizen-Centric MDA of the Year (Federal) 2026, citing its service delivery, achievements and commitment to excellence.
The recognitions add to the commission’s public profile as it continues to pursue its mandate of protecting consumers and promoting fair competition across Nigeria’s economy.
