The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a man suspected of impersonating a permanent secretary attached to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation after intercepting a Lexus SUV displaying a concealed number plate bearing the inscription “PRESIDENCY”.

The command disclosed this in a statement shared on its Facebook page on Thursday, saying the vehicle was intercepted at about 8 pm on 20 October in Maitama, Abuja.

The statement was signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh.

According to the police, preliminary investigations revealed that the number plate bore the registration number 10B218 FG, but documents presented for its registration were allegedly forged.

The police said the suspect claimed to be the legitimate holder of the number plate. However, further investigations allegedly revealed that he was impersonating a permanent secretary attached to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The command said investigations were ongoing and that the suspect would be charged to court upon their conclusion.

Adeh urged residents to obey the law, cooperate with police operations and report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station.
