The Grand Patron of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang have urged residents to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
They made the call on Wednesday in Jos during the inauguration of the movement’s state and local government structures in Plateau State, alongside the unveiling of 25 vehicles and other campaign materials.
Representing Tompolo at the event, the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Limited, Dr Kestin Pondi, urged Plateau residents to take an active role in the campaign, saying Tinubu was committed to addressing insecurity and promoting peace in the state.
He described the President as a patriot and reformer whose policies required time to deliver their expected benefits.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a courageous man, a lover of country and a reformer. He is reforming the country and reforms, as we all know, take time,” Pondi said, quoting Tompolo.
He argued that the administration’s policies were contributing to timely salary payments by state governments, the execution of infrastructure projects and renewed investor interest.
Pondi compared the reform process to planting a seed, saying patience was necessary for the benefits to become evident.
“Our Grand Patron has asked me to appeal to you to be patient and support the re-election of our President in 2027,” he said.
He also cited progress towards establishing state police, noting that nearly 30 state Houses of Assembly had reportedly endorsed the proposed constitutional amendment.
Pondi urged the newly inaugurated coordinators to take the campaign to homes, markets, mosques and other community spaces, insisting that Tinubu deserved another term to consolidate his administration’s reforms.
Speaking at the event, Yilwatda urged Plateau residents to support Tinubu and APC candidates in the 2027 elections, citing the Federal Government’s security interventions and infrastructure projects in the state.
He said the President had deployed security personnel to areas including Bokkos and Riyom to address insecurity and had directed the deployment of additional military brigades, battalions and personnel.
The APC chairman also said Plateau was among nine states expected to benefit from the first phase of the proposed forest guard initiative.
According to him, the recruitment of personnel from local communities would help improve security coverage and strengthen local intelligence gathering.
Yilwatda also expressed support for the proposed state police system, arguing that officers recruited from local communities would be better positioned to understand their terrain and respond to security threats.
He cited the ongoing dualisation of the Akwanga–Jos Road and other proposed road projects as examples of infrastructure investments that could benefit Plateau State.
Yilwatda said he expected the state to benefit from his position as APC national chairman, urging residents to support Tinubu and other party candidates at the polls.
In his remarks, Mutfwang commended Tompolo for promoting grassroots mobilisation through the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement.
The governor said he had decided in June 2023 to support Tinubu, whom he described as a leader committed to moving Nigeria forward.
He also expressed support for the administration’s economic policies, arguing that continuity would give the reforms more time to produce results.
“We will not change our driver now. The driver you know is better, let’s stick with him,” Mutfwang said.
The governor also called for the continuation of the existing power-sharing arrangement between northern and southern Nigeria, saying political leaders should honour their commitments.
He expressed confidence that Plateau State would deliver substantial support for Tinubu in the 2027 election.
Earlier, the National Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Comrade Sunday Asuku, said the visit was part of a nationwide effort to establish the movement’s structures and mobilise grassroots support for Tinubu’s re-election.
Asuku urged residents not to be swayed by opposition parties, arguing that the administration’s reforms should be allowed to continue.
He commended Mutfwang and Yilwatda for supporting the President and urged the newly inaugurated coordinators to intensify mobilisation across the state.
Members of the National Assembly, the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, the state APC chairman, party elders and representatives of women and youth groups attended the event.
The movement is expanding its structures across states and local government areas as part of its campaign to mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
