Nollywood actor Odunlade Adekola has shared the story of how he met his wife, Ruth Abosede Adekola, about 22 years ago, as he celebrated her birthday.
The actor recounted their first encounter in a heartfelt tribute posted alongside his wife’s photograph on Instagram on Monday.
According to Adekola, he approached Ruth when he first saw her, introduced himself as her friend and asked if she would become his partner.
“I saw Madam Ruth Abosede Adekola about 22 years ago! I walked up to her and said, ‘My friend! I see what I want in you. Can you be mine?’ A lot of stories behind this. Olorun, very funny,” he wrote.
The actor also recalled their engagement 20 years ago, describing Ruth as the mother of his children and his number one fan.
Reaffirming his affection for her, Adekola prayed for continued blessings upon their home and wished her a happy birthday.
“20 years ago, I got fully engaged to my baby, the MOTHER of our KINGS. DEACONESS RUTH ABOSEDE ADEKOLA.
“I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER. MY NUMBER ONE FAN. God will continue to bless your home. Wa je ounje omo ooooo, Amin. Happy birthday to you, my friend,” he added.
He also urged his followers to join him in celebrating his wife on her special day.
The couple have four children together and have largely kept their family life away from public attention.
Adekola is one of Nollywood’s popular Yoruba-language actors, with appearances in several productions, including King of Thieves, Jagun Jagun and Lakatabu.
